Electromagnetic Spectrum
Electromagnetic
spectrum is the term used to describe the whole range of different types of
electromagnetic radiation. In light waves, electric and magnetic fields vibrate
therefore light is classified as electromagnetic radiation. This is an energy
that travels and spreads out as it goes. Hotter, more energetic objects create
higher radiation than cooler objects.
Some
types of electromagnetic radiation include: radio waves, microwaves, infrared, visible light, ultraviolet, x-rays, and gamma rays. Visible light
only takes up a small part of the spectrum. Everything on the spectrum may seem
different, but they are still electromagnetic radiation.
